We caught up with Aneesha Dhami, a Solicitor in the Private Client team at Warners, to hear about her journey from trainee to becoming an established member of the team who frequently leads her own matters. Aneesha reflects on the early stages of her career, shares how she tackles a challenging workload, and why the firm’s supportive, collaborative culture makes it an ideal place to grow a legal career. Her story highlights the value of a supportive work environment, and the unique benefits of working with experienced lawyers during her training.
I think a willingness to learn, showing initiative, attention to detail and being open to feedback are essential skills for a trainee solicitor.
I try to manage this by staying organised and prioritising tasks effectively. I create to-do lists to plan and structure my workload.
I also manage my workload by communicating with clients and colleagues to ensure expectations are clear from the outset. I try to address any potential issues early on and seek advice and guidance from colleagues when needed.
Looking back, I wish I’d known that everything will work out in due course. At the start of a legal career, it’s easy to feel pressure to know everything and avoid making mistakes, but in reality perfection is neither expected nor realistic at the outset. With time, support from colleagues, and a willingness to learn, confidence and understanding develop steadily.
The firm’s culture and support provided to trainees and newly qualified solicitors is excellent. The working environment is very friendly and approachable, and colleagues at all levels are genuinely willing to help and share their knowledge. This creates a supportive atmosphere where learning is actively promoted which is particularly valuable for those at the start of their legal careers.
At Warners, we’re proud to support the next generation of legal professionals. If Aneesha’s journey has inspired you and you’re ready to take the first step in your career, we encourage you to apply for our Trainee Solicitor Programme.
