Jewel Zaman the Proprietor of The Raj Pavilion in Tunbridge Wells held a curry and raffle night to help the Warners Walkers team raise funds for the midnight charity walk. The event was well attended and donations to the raffle were made by Tunbridge Wells BC Assembly Hall Theatre, Fullers Family Butchers, Hoopers, Makeupbycaitlin, Country Flowers Ltd, Trinity Theatre, Sainsbury’s Great Hall Mount Pleasant, TWODS, TM Active, Raj Pavilion, Wealden Times and Grace Fashion Accessories.

“Everybody really enjoyed the event and praised the food which I can confirm was absolutely delicious” said Mel Davis from the Warners Walkers team. “The management and staff were amazing and could not do enough for us and we raised over £800 for an amazing cause.

The Warners Walkers team was made up of 12 members of staff from the Tonbridge and Sevenoaks based law firm, Warners Solicitors. They took part in Trek the Night Lite, a challenging walk of 18 miles across the South Downs at midnight on 15 July 2017 and stomped home in second place.

“We wanted the chance to be part of a unique fundraising event that enabled walkers of all ages and abilities to realise their potential and really challenge ourselves physically and mentally,” said Eleanor Norman. “The trek was really tough but very rewarding and so far we have managed to raise £3,370 for the children’s charity Action Medical Research.”

Hundreds of thousands of children’s lives are devastated by disease and disability. Medical research can help children like these but is underfunded in the UK. For every project Action funds there is another one they have to turn away – simply because of a lack of funds. New treatments and cures for sick babies and children are urgently needed.
